The City of Palo Alto Utilities (CPAU) is an award-winning, nationally recognized utility offering a full array of services: electricity, water, wastewater, natural gas, and fiber optics. The Director of Utilities oversees CPAU with an operating budget of $476.4 million and supported by 279.18 FTEs.

 

Palo Alto is looking for a visionary, strategic leader to join a team dedicated to turning innovative ideas into impactful change. With strong business acumen and an entrepreneurial mindset, this forward-thinking individual will be attuned to industry trends while drawing on a proven track record of building and managing successful partnerships and working with an engaged community. Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to utility management and 10 years of related experience, including 5 years at a management level, or an equivalent combo of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred. Experience working with the complexities of a similar-sized organization and municipal utility operations desired.
