General Duty Statement

The City of Saint Paul is looking to hire a General Manager of Saint Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS). SPRWS provides drinking water and related services to the City of Saint Paul, in addition to several surrounding suburban communities including Maplewood, West Saint Paul, Lauderdale, Falcon Heights, and Mendota Heights. Water is provided on a wholesale basis to the cities of Arden Hills, Roseville, and Little Canada. The utility provides water to over 450,000 residential customers on a 24/7/365 basis.

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, the Biological Sciences, Public Administration, Business Administration, Water Resources, Environmental Management, or a closely related field, and seven (7) years of progressively-responsible professional supervisory and administrative experience in a public utility or related business enterprise. An advanced degree in a closely related field may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.

Selection Process Information

Unclassified Position

This is an UNCLASSIFIED position and is therefore not governed by City Civil Service Rules. An examining committee will consider applications forwarded by the Office of Human Resources. Recommendations by the committee will be submitted to The Board of Water Commissioners for final consideration and selection.


Condition of Employment

This position will require a background check which may include criminal history, credit check, and a drug test as a condition of employment. The City of Saint Paul encourages individuals to apply for positions regardless of criminal history.
